Which begs the question, why don't ISPs require SMTP AUTH? Relying on the 'this is our customer' method doesn't cut it. Then GIVE the customer thier password, eliminating the passwords such as 'mail'.


If you backend your password into LDAP then the SMTP auth username/password can
simply be the same as your POP/IMAP username/password.


Even more simple.

Though this may significantly increase tech support calls...
