OMG!!! I just turned 14 this weekend...Just kidding... Patrick, welcome to the dark side, may the force be with you :-))
1) I don't know limewire...and I don't use RedHat...but linux is linux; so when you launch the app next time, write down the name of the modules you're missing, then instruct RPM to download/install them (if I am not mistaken, RPM, like debian's apt-get, lets you download apps/modules with a single command...Do a man rpm to familiarize with the command options)
2,3)Again, I don't use GRIP (please keep in mind that with linux, there are literally thousands of apps and choosing one is, more often than not, a matter of preference), but I assume it gives you the option of specifying the format to save the audio output. If you save the files as *.mp3, then you need an MP3 decoder(player)..I use xmms/xine for audio/video playback, but I heard good things about mplayer
My advice to you is to build the apps, trather than download the binaries--by building the source you can get a feeling for the dependencies (i.e libraries/tools/apps) that an application needs in order to run smoothly--not to mention the feeling you get when the apps run for the first time...Again, read the manual pages for RPM and pay close attention to the section about creating an RPM package...Linux is about rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty...
If you encounter any issues, just ask. That's what we're here for. To learn from one another....

Hello all CLUG members:
I am a 17 year old student attending Bishop Grandin High School.I just switched over to linux as a workstation and desktop replacement.I am running redhat 8.0.I have very few negative things to say about Linux,so far it has outperformed windows in almost every way.I am looking forward to learning more about Linux with all of you! I do, however have a few questions... a) I tried to download Limewire, but I am told that I am missing modules, how can I solve this? b) I seem to be having trouble with GRIP,I rip a cd, but when I play the file, my audio player won't recognize it. c)Where can I find a good mpeg player?preferable in the rpm format.
These may seem like silly questions, but I am very new to the system, so I haven't mastered it completely yet.I would appreciate any help you could give me on these subjects.
I look forward to conversing with all of you in the future!
sincerely,
Patrick Shannon
