Hello Jarrod, Thank you for your note concerning doing the command with the pathname. I will probably be in my down_mepis directory when I execute my md5sum command because I will want to see that I have the ISO in front of me to type the first couple of letters and do a tab completion.
I have done an md5 check sum before and know that it takes about 5 minutes to execute. Checking the CD I burn from it takes a little longer. And I have plenty of patience today. Blessings and thanks, Michael Jarrod Major wrote: >: md5sum filename > >You should be in the directory where the file you want to checksum but you >could include the path as well > >: md5sum /home/whatever/whatever/filename > >If it is a large file like an ISO, be patient, it will take a little time. > >Jarrod > > > >>-----Original Message----- >>From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On >>Behalf Of Michael Walters >>Sent: Tuesday, June 07, 2005 2:20 PM >>To: CLUG General >>Subject: [clug-talk] md5 checksum command >> >>Hello All, >> >>I want to execute an md5 checkum command and have forgotten the exact >>format of the command. >> >>I had it written down somewhere but forgot where I put the book in which >>is written. >> >>All help is appreciated in advance. >> >>Michael >> >>_______________________________________________ >> >> >> _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
