For Arp, you want to look at the arp cache via the arp -a or arp -n command (I
think). I know the command has some help available - try "arp /?". What you
are after here is to get a listing of IP addresses matched to the
corresponding MAC address. If you need to, redirect this to an output file
so you can compare things later. The goal of this exercise is to see if an
IP address get's associated with two different MACs, or other similar
behavior. If this is the case, then you need to determine why - (check the
wiring layout). (I had a similar problem in the past, with my default
gateway getting associated with two MACs and preventing Internet traffic.
This turned out to be an oops on my part in the way I had the wiring plugged
into the hub...)

Next, I'm assuming this is a Windows box. Have you scanned for viruses? Have
you tried different scanners? The fact that the problem crops up at exactly
6 hours after logon (not 6 hours after power up) is highly suggestive of some
software setting up a timer... This has been known behavior for some
viruses. You've checked the registry - but did you remember to check
autoexec.bat and the other startup files?

Lastly, if it IS a windows box, there are probably better mailing lists or web
sites for this. We are afterall a Linux list.. <grins>
