Does alsamixer display settings for an audio card? What does lsmod |grep snd output? > 2) flash has no audio This is an audio locking issue I believe. Make sure that all audio daemons are off. Also, the OLD OSS would only allow one program to access the hardware at a time. The newer alsa modules are much better at sharing the hardware. > 3) my usb transfer rate is EXTREAMLY slow Not sure about this. Maybe try a live CD to see how the USB performs. > > im running gnome and running into soo many problems im really thinking > of switching distro's if i can't find a solution I am becoming a big fan of kubuntu on the desktop. It has recent versions of KDE and xorg, with a lot of the advantages of Debian. I also, uh, don't like GNOME, so if you are sold on gnome, then ubuntu may be to your liking. I have been particularly impressed with the ubuntu/kubuntu handling of usb storage devices. > > any help would be greatly apreciated. > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFDTzlVwRXgH3rKGfMRArviAKCNMEO100WBajApk+apOY6IKGbNvwCfUOb8 5fV1epnmafRmlYNoQuxHFco= =pev1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
