Hi all,

I figured I would refrain from hijacking the tank vs. station wagon thread
_again_ ;) more people should drive tanks, they are harder to hijack.

Anyways, a postfix server I am looking after has suddenly decided to stop
delivering mail. In the logs I see:

Apr 18 10:49:46 r2d2 postfix/virtual[32759]: fatal: gethostbyname("r2d2") does
not resolve as a fully qualified domain name.
Apr 18 10:49:47 r2d2 postfix/qmgr[32336]: warning: premature end-of-input on
private/virtual socket while reading input attribute name
Apr 18 10:49:47 r2dr2d2 ~ # 2 postfix/qmgr[32336]: warning: private/virtual
socket: malformed response
Apr 18 10:49:47 r2d2 postfix/qmgr[32336]: warning: transport virtual failure
-- see a previous warning/fatal/panic logfile record for the problem
description
Apr 18 10:49:47 r2d2 postfix/master[32334]: warning:
process /usr/lib/postfix/virtual pid 32759 exit status 1
Apr 18 10:49:47 r2d2 postfix/master[32334]: warning: /usr/lib/postfix/virtual:
bad command startup -- throttling

The mail server was working fine for 2 months, seems odd to see this now. The
root of the problem seems to be it can't get it's hostname -- but I have
"myhostname" in main.cf set correctly to a FQDN that does resolve, which was
the only thing I could find on Google.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Nick
