I never tried sudo su...I tried su but apparently the user "gentoo" it logs 
you in as is not in the wheel group, making su a nono. sudo su seems like an 
oxy moron...lol. Why would they deny me access to use su then put me as a 
sudoer to run su? Hmmm...

At any rate, I've proceeded with knoppix and added another CD to my new chair 
(see link elsewhere in this thread)
