Hi All, I wouldn't exactly call this a 'job posting', but it's something along those lines.
I've recently formed an Alberta corporation named KPG Media Corp. The purpose of the corporation is to launch a series of FOSS blog networks that will (hopefully) attract new and existing Free Software/Open Source Software bloggers that are currently working independently. There's a lot of people out there doing fantastic work in the space, and I think the whole movement could benefit from a little consolidation. The old strength in numbers thing. Anyhow, the first network to launch is a Linux blog network. I'll be launching that shortly (hopefully within the week) and I'd like to have a few more bloggers onboard if possible. I'm more interested in passion and knowledge than in blogging experience. If you are currently blogging, that's great because it makes it easy for me to read your stuff and see what your style is. If you're not currently blogging - no sweat. You can send me a few snippets of the type of stuff you'd like to write. This is a paying proposition where revenue is tied to posting frequency. I don't want to go into specifics until I have my agreement back from lawyer (look how grown up I am. I have a lawyer...) but as a pro blogger, you can rest assured that I'm pretty realistic and laid back about this type of thing. One of the advantages of coming onboard with a new network early in the game is that you can pick your poison (ok, the disadvantage is that it takes the revenue wagon a while to gain steam). There's so much room to move right now that I can likely accommodate pretty much any topic that you'd like to blog about. A couple that I'd like to see is a Linux Gadgets type blog, a *buntu Watch type thing, and some scripting/dev type stuff, but that's just my brain spinning. You can pretty much literally pick your topic right now. I exchanged an email with Dave before posting this to the list because I know that some people feel that blog networks are just link spam havens. I've made a tidy part time income off of managing b5 Media's technology channel and writing the New Linux User blog for them, so I know differently. Good solid content with a genuine desire to help people pays off in the blogging world and it can build credibility within the field as well. I went from a Linux blogger to a magazine article writer (Linux Journal, Linux Magazine, Linux World, Really Linux, and Sitepoint) and now I have an agent pounding the pavement for me looking for a book deal. But that's just my experience, your mileage may vary. I think it might be best if replies were sent to me off-list, although I'm happy to answer any questions if you prefer to post them to the list for all to see.
