Having worked at Shaw I can say definitely maybe.  It depends on the
wiring in the house.  Basically try, if it doesn't work, call Shaw.  The
connection is not outlet specific, but cable modems are more sensitive
than our eyes.  The modem should work at most of the neighbors as well,
as long as they have cable.
