As per my last post on the subject, it turns out that I am utterly wrong and everyone else is right. I do, in fact, have a wildcard DNS record that I set up a long time ago and then promptly forgot about. As for setting it up, it's silly easy, really. I have a Zone Edit record that points *.linuxworldnet.com to my main IP. I imagine it might get a little more complicated if you wanted to have separate machines on your domain doing different things (as in, if ftp.yourdomain.com was actually supposed to point to a different box). But for my purposes, this seems to be working fine.
