Myth may or may not work for you then.  I do not believe that the bt8xx
chipsets do hardware encoding.  What this means is that the heavy
lifting is done by your CPU instead of the capture card (as in the PVR
line of happauge cards).  You may have less than stellar performance on
your older computer as a result.

aptitude search tv

There are a lot of packages for watching TV.
