Here's the scoop

The executive team support it, some financial support allocated but
event should fund itself.

Dharm has agreed to act as project manage it

Tried for a meeting this week and got a room for Wed -- maybe too short
notice and Dharm may have a scheduling issue. Any takers for Wed this
week or better next week (I will ask in a different post).

University has agreed today for a Saturday in October in terms of
meeting rooms -- there has not been any agreement to have trade booths.
which will require further discussion. Personally, I think the fall is
a better time for us especially with the students still in class -- it
was most unfortunate that this information was not public knowledge (or
at least I was not aware of it).

My personal view, it was a success last year and we are not big enough
to command the level of attention that we want. Some still believe that
a vendor trade show is viable and while there is a desire to be open
minded, one also needs to be practical as well. So the plan of attack
will be to accommodate new ideas but at a point in time, if there is no
support either from the vendor or from our own efforts then the ideal
will be abandoned.

Remember success is a result of 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration and
last year all the perspiration happened in the last month because as a
group we were unable to commit to deliverables. If anything, we should
not repeat this mistake. So, there is a time for ideas, a time to
commit to ideas that are doable, a time to evaluate where we are
compared to the deliverables and cut our losses but we need our
membership to step up and be counted.

Just so as to keep the postings here on topic, let's continue
discussions over on Clug-events, collaborate and have some fun.

Regards
