I think I have having a brain fart here but I can't remember the name of the ?buntu distro I am thinking of.
Here is the poop. I am building a system for someone at work that is relatively inexperienced with technology. She is used to XP at work using MS office. WHen I got the hardware for her I told her that if there is a CD Key I would load windows for her. There was not so I told her I would use Ubuntu or similar. I showed her what it looked like on my laptop and she seemed to be ok with that. The functionality I am looking for is obviously an office suite, browser and other basic things. She did mention that she wuld like to play around with editing pictures and maybe updating her web page. I would also like to give her media fuctionality (mp3's, etc.), and something Outlook'ish for organization as she also teaches after hours as well. I believe she does use Instant Messaging as well. There are a few obviously things that I can thing if such as OOo, GIMP, Firefox & Evolution, but I know the base Ubuntu doens't have the full media functionality. Can anyone remind me of what that is? It installs the extar codecs, flash, java, etc. I was also thinking of Nvu (Kompozer) for webpages, but am open to suggestions. The machine this is going on is around 400 Mhz and likely 256+MB RAM (depending wat I have around) and hopefully will have a CD burner in it. There is also a possibility fo needing wireless as well. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
