Hello all, Excuse the spam, but this is something that I feel particularly strongly about.
It appears that the government is (has?) failing to produce an appropriate plan to met Canada's Kyoto targets, and will use the lack of comments in the consultation process to justify their inadequate plan. If you are likewise concerned, please take 30 seconds to visit the linked webpage and express your concerns. Do it now, tomorrow will be too late. Thanks, Simon Wood. -----Original Message----- Subject: Action on Kyoto Here is something simple we can do that could possibly have a large impact on the environment. The Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act legally requires the government to produce a plan that meets Canada's greenhouse gas emissions targets. The current Canadian plan misses the targets by a wide margin. The federal courts can force the government to comply with the law, but a crucial and legally admissible public consultation process ends TOMORROW, September 20th, and almost no comments have been received! AVAAZ members are stepping in at the last hour to create a massive public outcry, by faxing open letters to Environment Canada who will have to submit them in court. If there are no comments, the government will claim in court that the public supports its illegal position. We have just 24 hours to make our voice heard . Please sign the letter at the link, below: http://www.avaaz.org/en/canadian_climate_crime/tf.php Please note that avaaz.org is a reputable international activist organization based in the U.S. All the info is available on their website. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
