I can see value in both sides of the discussion. Dvorak is definitely a little on the grumpy side. One is hard pressed to find a product he will get behind.
I don't think that Vista is another WinME. I do think it's much like XP was in the early days. While Vista has so far been proven to be much more secure than XP was initially, it is plagued with issues surrounding resource usage, and driver availability/maturity. This is something XP suffered for initially. I like Vista to look at it. I dislike using it from my initial experiences with it. I blame that on a lack of double the RAM that made XP run reasonably and lack of drivers that always work. For businesses its a no brainer - its 'not yet suitable'. Is Vista the next killer-app, or is it what Microsoft had hoped/hyped? Not a chance. Death Watch? not likely either. M$ has a huge market share that will help them weather this and Vista, will.... eventually be widely adopted. Will Microsoft loose some market share over it? possibly, and I whole-heartedly agree that it's a great opportunity for Linux as a whole to gain some market. I really think that when the market begins to realize real value from a cloud-based computing model, Linux can really begin to shine for the 'average' user. I think what is happening with google (openly available api's and a cell phone based google OS) is making Microsoft far more uneasy than Vista being a little slow out of the gate, and perhaps looking the other way for now?
