Oh, just some other points I though to add:

1) At this time SIP calls are not secure, anyone with access to anypoint on the 
network/internet which your call goes though will be able to trivally listen 
in. Normally your calls go point-to-point unless you have specified to use a 
proxy.

With a DID your call *must* go through the point of connection (ie. Calgary) 
and will often go through a centeral office (New York in the case of didww).

2) Don't expect '911' service.

3) VoIP is not a realiable as PSTN. Power outages will/may stop the service 
running.
