| Hmmm...that doesn't seem to work. I still don't have audio in my
| browser. When I switch the settings in the KDE sound system hardware
| tab to ALSA or default, then youtube works. If I use jack, I get
| sound when I click the test sound button, but there is no sound in
| the browser.

This actually makes sense. Conceptually, jack runs on top of alsa and
essentially locks access to alsa. Jack is merely a way for audio apps
to share and route data between themselves, the hardware, with low
latency. The catch is that the applications need to be specifically
written to take advantage of jack. I would be more than surprised if
flash supported jack, as it has only recently supported alsa (oh the
joys of proprietary software).

Basically I only run jack when I am running the apps that make use of it
(ardour, rosegarden, etc.). Otherwise I just use alsa by itself for
things like youtube, watching movies (smplayer or xine) or listening to
music (amarok).

| OK, tried that...will see if it worked.

Alsaconf does nothing for jack. If youtube works when jack is not
running, then it seems to me that sound is working.
