I used a combination of the Asus hosted Xandros repository, with some
community Xandros and Debian sources. The debian.org site has some good
info on "apt pinning" to keep from breaking things. This worked well,
except some kde apps that were not part of the default install would not
install.

You can install a full on distro onto an SD card, and then boot into
that (the bios can even be set to do this by default) leaving the
original OS alone. I just replaced the OS with Xubuntu and have been
real happy ever since (I could not get kdevelop to install and work
properly, not surprising given 3 different sources). I have all the
hardware working (wifi, webcam, sound etc.) with a complete OS. Boot
time is slightly longer.

Another advantage is that I now have Bluetooth working the way I am used
to, with internet access via my cell phone if I need it.
