Ouch, this writer has no idea what he is talking about.  Linux is the
kernel, and compared with the OS X and Windows kernels, there is a
serious race for a distant second place between Apple and Microsoft.

There is three way competition in the user interface space, with KDE4,
compiz etc. bringing a lot of pretty to the table.

In the case of the operating system, popularity has nothing to do with
needs or wants.   Marketing and branding is king.

I expect more out of Cnet.
