Hey Shawn I am using Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000 works fine even with Skype 2.0 beta (FYI Skype 2.0 for Linux was released earlier this week) No major cracking needed on UBUNTU 7.04
Also using Linksys WVC54GC, this one has a built in webserver. Some minor hacking needed (To setup the cam you can use the built in web-server, to view video you need MS & IE or VLC on Linux) Found this great article http://www.infohit.net/blog/post/using-linksys-wvc54gc-webcam-with-linux.html (Part 2 talks about motion and restreaming) As for the old webcam, I suggest doing a lsusb on the command line ... Bus 001 Device 008: ID 046d:08ce Logitech, Inc. ... Put the ID 046d:08ce and the word 'linux' in Google and you might find some good instructions to get it working. Hope this helps Peter Shawn wrote: > Anyone using a decent webcam with K/ubuntu?
