Network administrator
The Information Technology Department of the Calgary Zoo is seeking a Network
Administrator to join its dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager of
Information Technology, the successful applicant will be responsible for the
following functions:
Working at a high level of technical support, dealing with network
infrastructure, server hardware and software, backup and recovery.
Providing support for Microsoft networking software, email and firewall.
Providing support for internet/intranet connections and web hosting
applications.
Analyzing and developing solutions for technical support issues related to
network and server hardware.
Working with outside vendors for support services, purchases and product
investigation.
Providing preventative maintenance routines to protect the IT assets of the
Zoo.
Participating in planning, investigation, acquisition and integration of new
equipment and IT resources.
Providing strong problem solving skills. Must be able to track, log and
respond to end user calls.
Specific experience with MS Exchange, MS Server, Blade server management and
SAN technology is required.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
working within a corporate environment. This position has daily, weekend and
statutory holiday on-call requirements.
Physical Demands: This position requires many hours of sitting and keyboarding
as well as some heavy lifting of large boxes.
