There may be some variation with the wireless and lan chips used, but all the new models use the same CPU/Chipset/Video combo.

These days, if you have Intel hardware (CPU, Chipset, Video, WLAN etc.) everything should work out of the box. Problems arise when you have hardware from nVidia or ATI/AMD. This is the short short answer since some hardware from those problem companies do work, but better to avoid them IMO. > Are there any netbooks with Ubuntu pre-installed (besides the Dell Mini 9)? > Not that I am aware of. Having said that I have Ubuntu running on my older eeePC 701 and the newer Acer Aspire One. It works well with both devices. I used a USB CD/DVD drive to do the actual install. I also did not keep the original OS as there are space constraints with the SSD drives. > If I can do it myself, where in Calgary can I get the Ubuntu CDs or DVD? > (I don't have a working CD burner on my Windows desktop.) > Anyone that you know with a CD/DVD burner. I don't know anyone who doesn't have a burner these days. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFI6kIcwRXgH3rKGfMRAunUAKCueHNiSodsmUYKgDhVr5v3EXKrNACfcLrf uWq2G8UoCIFW/sxKXq9ginU= =rrFN -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
