Enough horsepower to drive the panels native resolution.  Fortunately I
am not aware of any GPU that you can buy today that this would be a
problem.  The only other real concern would be driver support under
Linux.  In the order that I would choose:
1) ATI (recent models only, they should have HD in the model name, or a
number like 38xx, 47xx, 48xx, 49xx).
2) Intel
3) nVidia

I am more than happy with the Intel integrated graphics controllers for
day to day performance.  One of my machines here is a dual core Atom
machine.  It is low power but with 2GiB of RAM has more than enough
horsepower to watch videos.
