I installed Ubuntu in an older HP Pavilion to donate to an illiterate friend, to introduce him to computing. I found, that downloading streaming audio in Firefox is pretty lousy. It simply gets stuck and nothing happens, even the modem light doesn't flicker. An older Kubuntu and Mandrake seemed to have worked better. Does Ubuntu lack the proper ( Real Audio compatible ) application? Is the KDE system better suited for streaming audio or it has better applications?
Is my swap partition too small?

   Thanks for any opinion.

      Joseph.
