My Outlook is config'd to use pop.telus.net @ port 110 and smtp.telus.net @ port 25....neither requires encryption... just another thought.... are u using the correct user name for the account you are trying to log into....I got them screwed up when trying to config my iPhone .... also for what ever reason the iPhone has one account as imap and the other as pop..... the wonders of telus...lol

According to their website, authentication is not required for the SMTP.
