Guys: I have a need for a reasonably priced headset/microphone for use with Linux and Windows for now and OS-X in the future. I'm mostly using it with Skype, but may use it for other things in the future. I'm running Kubuntu 10.04.
I brought home a SteelSeries H5 headset with heaphone and microphone connectors. When I use Skype to test the hardware I can hear with no problem, but I cannot get anything out of the microphone. I have looked at the mixer (I'm using the built in sound card on the Asus M4A88TD mother board), but nothing is muted and the PCM control is maxed. I don't see a microphone input on Kmix. I am considering getting the USB headset which is $10 more (I'm still within the 7 day period MemoryExpress gives you). Would that solve the problem?
