I found giving the presentation easier than putting out an article (pdf). When doing last minute corrections, it appears I lost a non-inclusive list of programs just by clicking a mouse. Undo did not recover it. I also should add GIT version control to it. I see more insight I would like to have added, but alas, no time to do it now. But then I am over critical of my own work. Questions are welcome of course.
Who can tell what looks wrong in the type setting? If you have LyX version 1.6.7 you can play with the LyX file (the older LyX would need LyX 1.4.x instead of LyX 1.5.x) If you try Scribus or anything else, I am interested in your experiences. It's not just about LyX. By the way, I would also suggest going to help, then call up Introduction and Tutorial. To get out of read only, save to your home directory. Doing this may give you a feel for how LyX works.
