I am using ubuntu 10.10 and have the following two lines in my /etc/fstab file:
#UUID=3012-E8F4 /media/flashDrive vfat user, exec, noauto, suid 0 0 UUID="HP v255w" /media/flashDrive vfat user, exec, noauto, suid 0 0 The first line (before being commented out) allowed me to reference my flash drive as being at directory /media/flashDrive. Before I added this line to fstab, installing my flash drive caused it to be located at /media/3012-E8F4 but after it installed to /media/flashDrive as expected. I now have a new flash drive which installs to "/media/HP v255w". I want it to install to /media/flashDrive so I added the second /etc/fstab line listed above. I need the double quotes to escape the space character but it doesn't seem to work. Neither does using single quotes instead of double quotes. What do I do to deal with drive UUID names containing spaces? Note that when I restart I get the message: <The disk drive for v255w" is not ready yet or not present continue to wait; or Press S to skip ...> Regards, Ralph Boland _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
