You may need to specify the port number on the JetDirect box.
I have a printer coonnected via parallel port 1 on a JetDirect EX Plus3 box
at 192.168.0.101. The port URI number for Port 1 on that bo x is 9100.

In the linux printer configuration, I set it up as a local printer, with the
local URI as "socket://192.168.0.101:9100" . All the computers on our home
network can access it.

Hope this helps
