This is a very good DVD. I happen to know a lot in this field and for once I see the truth being told. In general what the public hears is a pack of lies.
Look here: http://thoriumremix.com/2011/ Its available for $1.75 and can be copied since its under the Creative Commons License... it apparently was done in Calgary! I would recomend this DVD to anyone who is interested in viable nuclear energy. Next this is a type of molten salt reactor which was designed by Oak Ridge Labs. It exists and has been tested for four (4) years. This is not juck science. Personally I think a uranium based molten salt reactor - or - the IFR which is a breeder reactor is a better way to go because it is likely the only viable way we can burn up tons of spent fuel which is sitting in big swimming pools on reactor sites. However there is so much of it that it will take over 6,000 years to burn it up. There is another way to deal with it... its fuel reprocessing. Anyone who suggests this leads to weapons proliferation has been lied to. That fuel is poisoned with Pu240, Pu241 and Pu242 and hense it is not suitable. Besides anyone who really wants Pu239 can easily make it. It was done at Handord in the 1940's. So the BEST option is reprocess what is in the pools and this converts a very hazardouds material into fuel which is ready to be stuffed right back into reactors including our own CANDU which can easily burn any USA "spent fuel". Here is why. The USA light water reactors like a fuel enriched to about 5% U235. The CANDU starts with natural uranium which is 0.7% U235. But after the USA Light water reactors have burned what they can and after their "spent fuel" has been recycled through CANDU reactors and is now depleted down to about 0.3% U235 then this is still suitable for Generation IV reactors of which the Molten Salt Reactor is a very good design. So it really will take over 6,000 years to burn it... which simply means we have over 6,000 years of fuel already mined and we really don't need to mine another gram of unranium... all we need to do is use what we already have! But it requires fuel reprocessing which Japan and France already do... and the reason there was a problem with exposed spent fuel rods in Japan is because they hadn't got around to reprocessing them yet.... they are way behind. That part is not in the DVD... but the DVD is very good. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
