There are ways to checkout what is in the offering for CAD programs, and
I chose to use debian package search (pachagesearch) and search for cad

I was impressed with how freecad the website looked. Their philosophy
looks spot on, however they seem to counter claim maturity with program
version numbers like v 0.10 for debian stable
and v 0.20 for testing (not sure of this since my netbook is moaning now
about server access during the update/upgrade)
freecad in general everything was not fully functional via easy use of
GUI, and much functionality was therefore not available yet.

I will see if I have time to fix this or if the servers see fit to
smarten up soon.

also pythoncad looks cool too but it was only at version 0.1.37

other opinions about GNU/Linux CAD, 3dCAD programs are welcome.
