With the caveat that I only know of these guys because I saw a banner ad
the other day and the concept struck me as interesting for the same reasons
you mention: https://www.goldenfrog.com/vyprvpn. I don't use their service,
it just happened to be in my brain and you asked. ;-)

Or, for a free-er option, if you happen to have a tech-savvy friend in the
States that you could VPN with, you could of course accomplish the same
thing without the monthly fee.
