IMHO there is simply no way they can make the system secure.

It is very easy to fool people and one way is to set up a fake server which 
tunnels into the Bank's own website.

But KB loggers are easy to install as well.  The population simply has no clue. 
 Hense IMHO the banks should not be offering this.  I guess they are willing to 
take the risk.

In your case since you are likely pretty competent, then I think your chances 
of being compromised are pretty low.
