I am getting similar errors with Macports. I would love to hear a
solution for this.

I have been trying to install clutter on my Mac quite some time, but I
have since given up. I have never got that
far as being able to install the clutter on the Mac because Macport
always fails with the very basic dependencies.
First the Macport system was totally non-functional with Leopard. The
situation has since improved, but it still fails with with all
g* dependencies. Macports feels like a quite broken piece of software
to me. Maybe it is the RTFM error, who knows.
