You may not be able to see the wound itself, but are you assessing the rest of the arm for extension of the fasciitis? Checking vital signs for indications of infection?  Monitoring for pain, swelling, redness? Are you monitoring the wound drainage coming from the vac?

Subject: wound vac

We admit a lot of patients with wound vac to be changed every other day.  How can I skill this pt. for assessment and observation if the wound vac is covering the wound?
Dressing change is every other day NOT daily but the wound involves the whole lower arm due to necrotizing fasciitis?  No more IV antibiotic and no rehab either.
Thank you.
