We do a back up every night so if ever the computer system crashes the furthest back we would have to reconstruct is from that point in time to the crash.  This works well for us although we do print our validation reports and keep them on file

Joyce,

My only concern with not having a hard copy in my "hot little hands" is what do you do when the computer you have all this stuff saved on crashes.  You call IT deperately begging for assistance, since of course the day the PC crashes is the VERY day the surveyors show up, the BO is needing validation reports from several transmissions ago, the MDS you were half way thru the final RAP out of 12 is lost forever... etc. etc.  If you have ever had a system crash, it makes keeping a piece of paper well worth its weight in gold.

Thats just my 2 cents for what its worth.

if you do not want to print them, save the files elecronically ...you can always back them up electronically as well.

As a matter of fact, I do not photocopy them for the business office, but save the file and email the validation report to the BO for billing.

Sometimes i think we are still too dependent on having the hard copy in our hot little hands.  Save some trees!!!!
