Gail: I have been there, done that!! The DON was the person not accepting the sig. change as well as the team. The POC meeting was a horrendous event and I simply got up and left. I documented everything in the patient's medical record though. I did smarten up and resign. It still hurts as I loved that facility and my job. BUT---as you said, tomorrow is another day. I say--"Life is too dam short not to enjoy the simple pleasures." I would like to share with the group something I found somewhere. My husband has had two MIs and is only 55. Our outlook has changed drastically in many ways. I have always been a fighter for what I firmly believe. Yes, I can compromise but only to a certain point and within the law. Oh!! We are taking our 6 year old to the Broadway production of "Cats" tonight. She is so excited. I think she thinks there will be REAL CATS on stage. This should be quite delightful tonight. Life is good.
My philosophy of life is simple. Life is too short not to live it the way you want to. It isn't about money. It is about attitude. It is giving up old limitations and Understanding you have choices. Begin by believing that everything is possible! And for the rest of the team to not understand or take your word as a credible source is doubly dumb-founded! I congratulate you on your ability to do your job and stay in that position; I'm sure if I was in your place I'd have left long ago. I'm in a 108 bed M/M facility and we have two full time MDS coordinators; me being one of them. That fact in and of itself holds no comparison to yours. Again, I want to give my support and understanding that you need to vent!! Glad you did.
