Since he was no
longer in a Med A bed, he obviously was no longer covered by Med A.
Thus his Med A had ended. Now that he's back in a Med A bed, it's a NEW 5
day.
If a resident goes from a Medicare A bed to a non Medicare bed and then
back to Medicare A, would you code it as a 5 day or return/readmission.
I know if they went to the hospital and returned Med. A it would be a
return/readmission. It does not say anything about going to a non
Medicare bed and then back. Thanks.
