If this resident has gone to a noncertified bed and not to the hospital while during a medicare stay, then the pps cycle starts over with a 5 day mc assessment. You will also need to start the obra cycle over again, ie start with an admission assessment, since the resident went to a noncertified bed.

If a resident goes from a Medicare A bed to a non Medicare bed and then back to Medicare A, would you code it as a 5 day or return/readmission. I know if they went to the hospital and returned Med. A it would be a return/readmission. It does not say anything about going to a non Medicare bed and then back. Thanks. Michelle
