I work in a very posh facility and we use fall mats. Tell your administrator to get over how they look. You are working in a long term care facility. Ask him to justify use of siderails just because he does not like the way fall mats look. Also tell him one day he may have to explain to a family member why their loved one's neck got caught between the siderail and the bed and they died.
