Title: Leaves

What I have done in the past when the cast comes off, is request that the cast come back with the resident.  I weighed the cast and then the resident so I could justify the weight loss without having to do a significant change.

I'd check the weight gain, but explain it in RAPS. Also, once the cast comes off, you'll most likely have to check weight loss.

Subject: casts vs weight gain

I have a resident who was in a MVA an sustained a fracture to her tibia. She is in a full leg cast. My dilemma; showing a weight gain and triggered on raps. Can I put no for weight change since she has the cast and we do not know what the weight of the cast is? Or can I put yes to the weight gain and document on raps that she has a full cast on her leg and is not a true weight gain?
