Joyce, You may use day 6, 7 or 8 as your reference dates for the 5 day PPS assessment. You may also use days 15-19 for the 14 day PPS assessment as long as you are not combining it with your admission assessment, which needs to be completed through VB2 by day 14. In that case, you will not have any grace days if you combine assessments. If you do not wish to combine and want to do the admission assessment separately by day 14 and then use grace days for the 14 PPS assessment, that's okay, but it will be extra work for you. You may also combine your admission assessment with the 5 day PPS assessment and then you have the 5 extra days for your 14 day.
Hope this is clear. If not, let us know and we'll help you out.

Are you allowed to use grace days with the 5 day admission assessment and the 14 day assessment.  Often our therapy department does not see the patient until a week later, due to their staffing problems.  I have been using grace days for the 5 day assessment.  Is this ok?  I am still new to the MDS process.

Thanks for any help.
