MaryEtta, Look at pages 3-186 and 3-187 of the MDS User Manual for guidance on the training required of nurses to provide respiratory services. This training should be documented in the nurse's employee file and signed by the person providing the training.

Subject: Re: respiratory minutes
No respiratory minutes from the hospital but when it is put
on the MAR make sure there are slots for the number of minutes and the
person's initals that is giving the tx, make sure it is the actual # of
minutes at nurses is with the patient. You must also have documentation
somewhere that the person giving the tx has been inservied by Respiratory or
else they have had some kind of forman training, just nursing school won't
do. We got sited for the last state inspection. Good luck
