Evaluations performed once therapy has begun can be counted, but my question was whether the time spent doing a diagnostic study could be counted as well as charged by the professional as a procedure.  Seems to be "double dipping" to me, but I'm not certain about the billing, because now the MBS must be charged in the consolidted billing for the SNF.

I am still a newbie, I know I am a day late – a dollar short, and maybe I missed the boat here  ; >.  But I might question that SLP was even correct in documenting the minutes provided. Wouldn’t the services provided most likely be all part of the evaluation performed by SLP and therefore not counted?

Subject: Counting "outside" therapy minutes

Hi Group,

I have a question to relay from an email-impaired friend.

When a Med A resident is sent out to the hospital for modified barium swallow, and returns with documentation of the minutes provided by the SLP doing the study, can these minutes be counted on the MDS?

Thanks!
