A CCRC
can have all beds on their skilled unit certified or only a certain number of
beds. MDS's in CCRC's on the Skilled nursing unit are completed the same
as they are in any LTC facility. Our facility completes the MDS's per
state and federal regulations on all of our resident's on skilled care for
Quality Reasons. The biggest thing that I have learned working for a CCRC
is that it is a continueum of care and you see residents from active healthy
adults through death, so you know them a lot better than residents in a regular
LTC facility. I think this helps a lot when actually assessing changes on
new admissions. I believe it is definitely a benefit, rather than
depending on the resident or family for all background information.
Good
luck with your interview. I hope you like it.
-----Original Message-----I'm going for an interview for an MDS position in a new CCRC. They are currently under construction and will be opening in the next few months-37 beds with three neighborhoods-post-acute/rehab, dementia and LTC neighborhoods. I'm excited for the opportunity but hesitant as my employment has been in SNF's including hospital-based, and other traditional LTC's in the past. Hoping we have some listserv members that can help with advice about CCRC's and interview considerations i.e., is MDS staffing ratio similar for this environment and do you complete RAI process for all beds or are only a portion of them in your CCRC certified?
