I hope I am following you.  If this resident has been at home for at least 60 days without skilled adm to a hospital or snf, then he/she is eligible for a new medicare benefit period.

If the resident has been at a snf and has previously been skilled for medicare a and exhausted the 100 day benefit and has never gone to a nonskilled level of care, then he/she is not eligible for another benefit period.

I think also what you are asking is does the trach, o2, suctioning skill him?  I would certainly say yes.

Subject: trach skilled egibility question

Hello to everyone and Happy Healthy and Safe New Year,

I have a question :  When a resident has a trach that is not managed by the resident and requires suctioning , trach care , and constant o2 mist tx by nrsg , therefore ,this resident is  getting skilled services .

What happens though , if the resident came from home with no recent ( within 30 days) of hospitilzation service and now goes to the hospital and used all 100 days of snf mcr this resident is at what level of care ? skilled right?  HOpe this is clear!
