P1be is coded when the resident is seen by a licensed mental health professional for psychological therapy.  This area is  NOT coded when a psychiatrist is seeing the resident as a consultant for med adjustment or evaluation, it is coded when psychological therapy is provided.  The August update removed the requirement that psychological therapy groups had to be 4 or less residents per therapist.  So, group therapy sessions can now be coded.  I ask my licensed mental health providers to list the time in the resident's record that therapy was provided in their note.  All of the residents present for group therapy would get the same amount of time listed.  Also, we code for individual therapy , if it is provided.  The psych staff makes it clear in their notes whether therapy was provided or if an evaluation and med change was done instead.  They only write in the minutes when therapy is provided.  After a few reminders it seems to be working well.

Hello All,
Under special treatments and procedures, the (e part, Psychological therapy  by any licensed mental health professional).  Just exactly what does it cover and how must it be documented to count in this area.  I don't recall ever seeing this area with anything listed.  How can we utilize this?  Thanks in advance for all help.   You are a great group.
