Hi--sometimes we get confused about this...but, it truly doesn't matter whether or not the tube, trach, and wound were pre-existing conditions---if the patient requires staff to provide daily skilled post-hospital care, then the patient can be skilled. If he/she was not receiving inpatient skilled (or hospital acute) care for 60 consecutive days, 100 days are available. If less than 60 days, then the remaining days in the current spell of illness. (assuming the requirement is met for a 3-day qualifying stay.)
