I think I'd place her on Med A for 1-2 weeks for nursing observation, to ensure that her dehydration and diarrhea are resolved/. Monitor her hydration status, weight, any labs, etc... She won't rug into a Rehab catagory, but may rug into SE or SS. Once it is determined she is stable, take her off Med A. If Rehab still seeing her 3x week, then bill under part B.

Subject: Med A qualified???

Question for the goup please:  I have a lady here who went to the doctor'f office last Thu for evaluatiion of (R) hip pain after having a fall.  she ended up admitted to the hospital.  She came back yesterday and no where in her H&H or discharge summary does it mention any kind of fall or hip pain.  All it mentions is diarrhea and dehydration with lab work looking pretty good.  PT came in yesterday (I was off) and ordered therapy due to "decreased mobility, balance, and endurance". Is to Rx 3x/week.  Would this lady qualify for med a or should it be charged to med b???  thanks in advance for any help. Terri
