If a resident was discharged to the hospital your billing department
just submits a normal UB92 bill, shows the day as non-covered day, but
the charges as covered. Then they put a 40 in form locator 24 on the
bill. Put 'same day admit/discharge to the hospital' in the remarks
section. If the resident went home bill a covered day with covered
charges just as if they were still in the facility. The 40 is not
necessary. Again put the remark 'same day admit/discharge home'. You
will be paid.

I know that this has been discussed before about residents who are
admitted and discharged the same day and that there is a way to get paid
for that day. Can someone please point me to the correct place for this
information before they give away our resident's MR number. I hate to
lose $200-$300.
Thanks in advance,
